I like this side better than the other. I'd simply replicate this gable on the other side. Give it symmetry.
Note the left side is very different from the right. I would have put the skylight on the backside of the gable. That seems like a deep front porch.
Circa 1940 Tax Photo. Note frieze around the porch is still extant. Also corbels on each side that are now missing, and other detail now covered with siding.
